Capt Bruce Chard along with Yellow Dog Fly Fishing Adventures are teaming up to bring you the first ever fly fishing for permit school being held at the brand new Garbutts Permit Lodge in Punta Gorda Belize! 
 
Join well-known Florida Keys flats guide Capt Bruce Chard, and others for a week of focused permit fishing at one of the top permit destinations in the world. This is the first school of its kind anywhere in the world — a program designed for those who are interested in learning more about this elusive game fish.

Topics and subjects that will be taught and covered at the Permit School include:

 

·         Understanding the habitat and biology of permit and how this relates to permit        actions both on the flats and in deep water.
·         Advanced saltwater casting techniques and the presentation of the fly to permit
·         Equipment selection and application for effective permit fishing
·         Fly line, leader and tippet selection for permit (fishing and design)
·         The right knots and how important certain knots are to successful permit fishing
·         The “Physiology of the flats” – understanding the bottom structure of the flats
·         Food sources of the permit (what the permit eat and why)
·         Selecting the right flies for permit and deciding when to use certain flies
·         Properly presenting the fly to the fish
·         Evening fly tying sessions that highlight some of the most effective patterns and tying techniques for permit
·         Correctly fighting and landing permit with a fly rod
·         Prepare yourself mentally for each shot under different conditions and situations
·         How to properly release permit and all flats fish unharmed to fight another day
·         Learn how to cook permit — deep fried, grilled or blackened (…. Just kidding)




 


The permit school is held at the beautiful, brand new Garbutts Permit Fishing Lodge in Punta Gorda, Belize.  This lodge is set in the middle of some of the best permit hunting grounds in the world.  Miles of inshore islands and flats cut by huge super deep channels make this area prime time realestate for the elusive permit.  Join Capt Bruce Chard on a permit fishing adventure of a lifetime! 

 

The Learning Possibility’s at the Permit School are endless.  You will have the opportunity to learn from Professional FFF Master and CCI Certified Fly Casting Instructors, along with some of the best permit fly fishing guides in the world.  Along with one full day of class room school and casting instruction, you can take advantage of spending time in the evenings tying flys and leaders for the next days fishing or just picking the brains of all the professionals with the many questions you might have.  The point is that you have full access to professional fly fisherman’s information the whole time during your trip.  This is truly a great way to learn a lot of information quickly.  We know the value of this school is unprecedented.  The amount that you learn in one week at The Permit School will take you years to learn on your own.  The experience, and Knowledge that you will acquire and learn will be extremley valuable through out future fishing trips the rest of your life.

HOW TO GET THERE
International flights to Belize go through Miami, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta and Charlotte. The major airlines that service Belize are American, Delta, Continental, US Air, and Taca. It is best to arrive into the Belize City International Airport (Phillip Goldson International) before 4:30 PM in order to make your necessary in-country connections and allow ample in-country travel time to Ambergris.

 

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
A valid passport is required for all visitors to Belize and must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond the duration of your stay. Citizens of the U.S., the British Commonwealth, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, and the European Community are NOT required to have Visas.
